108 Community Bookshop

1975 — 1986
108, Salisbury Road, Cardiff, CF2

108 Community Bookshop, founded by Steve Gough and Terry Dimmock, was a centre for radical literature and community activism in Cardiff.

Jane Hutt, who later had a long career in the Welsh Government, was also an early key figure in the bookshop.

Located on Salisbury Road, it became known in the early 1980s for its collection of anarchist and communist books and its involvement in organising political events.

The bookshop was an information hub for its community, offering a wide range of books and pamphlets on topics such as political theory, industrial struggles, women's liberation, and civil rights.

According to an advertisement in the Cardiff People's Paper, 108 Community Bookshop also provided duplicating services for leaflets at cost price, further supporting local activist groups.
