Unity House, Dampiet Street, Bridgewater - Somerset
Unity Books was based in Unity House in Dampiet street. It had a room on the ground floor of Labour Party premises. David Hanna and Glen Burrows opened this Socialist bookshop. Dave Chapple was also connected to the bookshop.
David Hanna's obituary on the Bridgwater Labour website describes how they would drive to London to stock up their supply of lefty books and newspapers to sell to their customers in Bridgwater. According to the obituary, 'David was a devout reader of everything. Like many socialist missionaries he believed reading was the key to knowledge and that knowledge was the route to socialism.'
