Category Is Books is an independent LGBT+ bookshop located in Glasgow, Scotland. It was founded by Bug and Fionn Duffy-Scott in September 2018.
Category Is Books is one of only two LGBT+ bookshops in Scotland and one of just eight in the United Kingdom (as of 2025).
Every book stocked at the store is either written by someone from the LGBT+ community, contains at least one LGBT+ character, or has an LGBT+ narrative.
The bookshop hosts numerous queer community events and offers a non-drinking space for the LGBT+ community, including activities like yoga, queer tarot readings, and a transgender-friendly pop-up barbershop.
The bookshop's vibrant interior features pink walls adorned with art, bright book covers, and pride flags.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the bookshop adapted by offering deliveries by skateboard and bike. Despite facing challenges such as transphobic vandalism Category Is Books has cultivated a thriving and supportive community. They are members of the Alliance of Radical Booksellers.
