Doorway Bookshop Co-op started by selling second-hand books, alternative literature, magazines, and badges at a Tuesday market stall. The Co-op was founded by Roy Noon, Stevie Lishman, Robin Bowles, Jan Naylor, and Gail (last name unknown).
The bookshop was located in Northampton. It was a small and struggling community venture staffed exclusively by volunteers.
The bookshop offered a diverse range of stock, including radical and alternative books, women's and gay literature, and minority interest sections. The shop also ran bookstalls at local events and meetings, actively engaging with the community to promote its book collection.
Asa Cusack, recalling its early days, mentioned that the bookshop operated out of their front room when they were a child.
Sales were continued by Marion Cusack after the co-op folded.
