Dreadnought Books, an independent second-hand bookshop in Bristol, originated from its owner's venture into online book selling when job opportunities were scarce. The owner’s family has a background in second-hand book trading.
The bookshop, established in Bristol, was inspired by the historic newspaper Workers’ Dreadnought. Although the bookshop has particular interests in areas like occultism, counter culture, left-wing politics and a wide range of other genres, it doesn't adhere to a specific mission.
Dreadnought Books thrives on the variety of books brought in by customers and acquired from private collections and libraries. It aims to break down barriers to the common perception of elitism in book culture by fostering a welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors alike. They are members of the Alliance of Radical Booksellers.
