The Peace Centre was an alternative bookshop on Moor Street, Queensway that stocked many left wing political publications, environmental books, gay and lesbian literature and alternative magazines like Street Press. The centre described its orientation as ‘pacifist-anarchist’.
The Peace Centre had a notice board for various organisations and good causes. It supported organisations like CND, local artists and the Third Way in Vietnam Group in support of Vietnamese Buddhists. It was an exciting place for discussion and ideas, politics, religion and philosophy. It was also home to the Birmingham Gay Liberation Front in the early 70s.
